#thesideshow March 14th Tom Montag Three micro-poems

as evening

its dark
breeze. All

we have
is enough.

We know it,
the weight

of starlight
holding us

in place
all night.

Winter. Window
between him and

wind in the cedar.
The sun on snow.

Junco in shadow.
There’s nothing he wants

beyond his wanting
to know. With no need

to stay the rush
towards duty, he

puts on his shoes.

means nothing
without shadow.

Against hope,

Against silence,
the monk’s chant.

The way into
the mountains

is hidden
behind us.
