Clairo, indie’s favorite “pretty girl” dropped a new song on May 24th. And this geeky indie boy couldn’t be more excited. Her vocals are soft, intimate and charming. Her songs usually focus on relationships which I will say is her weakest point. But then again she is still a baby in the music industry and has yet to release a full album.
Her new single “Bags” reminds me of something you would have heard in the early 00’s indie pop scene like Azure Ray. Musically the song is a perfect start to a lazy summer but lyrically “Bags” is melancholic and tells the story of breakup. Clairo is brilliant at making pop songs and this song is no different. This song is horribly catchy, relatable & repeatable I’m truly looking forward to what her very first full length album in August out of The Fader label , “Immunity” brings!
I give this track a 4/5 because it can be summed up in one sentence: Gods damn can she produce an amazing indie pop song..
