CLASSICAL DOESN’T HAVE TO BE BORING.
Despite singing in choirs for over thirteen years, I’ve only recently woken up to the beauty that is traditional choral and classical music. Unfortunately, for many people, this style of music is forever associated with dusty church halls and overbearingly posh people in expensive outfits at extravagant opera houses – these stereotypes exist for a reason, I will concede, but thanks to the internet a huge range of wonderful music in this style is available to all.
This playlist therefore includes four relatively well-known pieces of classical music, perfect as a starting point in the genre or simply to have in the background while working or studying. These are followed by four choral pieces performed by various choirs, including work I’ve had the privilege of singing in the past (you won’t find my voice on these recordings, though!). I’ve tried not to go too overboard on the religious themes; though they do often come with the territory, this doesn’t have to be the case, and not all of these pieces have to do with Christianity.
CHORAL AND CLASSICAL
I hope you find these pieces relaxing and uplifting, or at least something a bit different. Another thing that’s different is my name – you might have noticed I’ve switched to writing under my ‘real’ name, Lucy, but it’s the same person as ever behind these playlists! Thank you all for sticking by me and five:2:one during this time of change.
