Early this year(Around April) the Brooklyn band DIIV announced that they would be releasing an album in October. Well shoegaze fans you can officially shit your pants with hazy, distorted bliss because because that album now has a name! It’s Deceiver! And of course their label Capture Tracks gave us some tasty tracks to gnaw on while we wait for their third studio album. It’s been nearly 3 years! It will be release October 4th!
The album was recorded in March 2019 in Los Angeles with producer Sonny Diperri(NIN and My Bloody Valentine ) and is the follow up to their 2016 album Is the Is Are. It is also the first album after front man Zachary Cole Smith’s long struggle with addiction.
About this new album he said it was “A light at the end of the tunnel” and “a chance at redemption” e? What is this disease?’”
The tracks “Skin Game” and “Tracker” both sound like anew and perhaps more mature version of DIIV but still very much sound like the DIIV have come to know
If you haven’t heard of them,DIIV came on the scene in 2011 as a part of Zachary Cole Smith’s solo project. You might have heard his name if you’ve ever listened to bands like Beach Fossils, Drawin Deez and Soft Black.
