Wild Air

there’s a stench ruined fractional/frictional obedience

a staggering onslaught of bad decisions & love & always love

that little world tangled tizzy in air—death smell

& I can’t position words any clearer to mean that

when someone writes about drinking, they speak of a ghost

a phantom presence gouging out eyes & blackout circumstance

& vomit & bad parents or bad lovers or bad themselves bad

& bad is such an easy word to describe, like love is easy to describe

an inferno gutting glaciers or ripping skies with lightning

averted gazes or snakes hissing in their desert or grasses

or seawater sunken in my cheeks are sore from sucking

in air like I needed it all my life.

Painting of Queer with Knife

& on some night of erratic hunger

I gather blades into my mouth, watch men cower

in a cavern, I host desirous ballads intertwined in

pink dazzling fire—ripe for blood-letting, insistence.

Some might say hard boys are jewels

cutting open aperture, sore from dirty nothings

or soft, straight lines through thin veins

warning for a pause before it stops harming you.

No one can sleep like this

or lay like this, or laugh like this

come plummet further & faster

open the lonely crater, go under.

Stomach is a noun for vomit

eyes are verb for gazing, blinding

you—are adverb, all done, defeated, blessed

into ghost-form slash & gash, gush-out…this is how you quench.
