The Ear

He’s an abomination! Cried the doctors and nurses upon seeing the newborn. Charles was born faceless. He had no nose, eyes, or lips. Instead, there he had one gigantic ear as a face. During his lifetime, despite the medical crew’s horror, Charles’ condition actually enabled him to succeed, as he used his sole organ to his own benefit. In school, Charles was very popular among his classmates due to his ability to listen to them, as he appeared a compassionate person. In college, he excelled in many courses as his medical state allowed him to focus on the professors’ lectures without any distractions. Even in politics, later in his life, Charles’ utilized his talent to gap between rival parties’ differences and interests, and boost his position in parliament, as well as his image in the eyes of his colleagues. However, in fact, in spite of his success, Charles was actually lonely. He couldn’t find true close friends, or even a wife, as similar people with his unique qualities were nowhere to be found those days…
